FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions about poly bags, sheeting, and packaging supply orders.
What thickness (mil) plastic bag do I need?
Bag thickness is measured in mil (1 mil = 0.001 inch). A common guide: 1 mil for lightweight items, 2 mil for general use, 3–4 mil for heavier items or sharper edges, and 6 mil+ for industrial applications. Tell us what you’re packaging and we’ll recommend the right gauge.
Are your poly bags safe for food contact?
Many of the bags we supply are made from food-grade polyethylene suitable for food contact applications. If you share what you’re packaging (meat, bakery, produce, etc.), we can recommend the right product and provide supporting documentation as available from the manufacturer.
Do you offer custom printed plastic bags?
Yes. We can source custom printed bags (logos, instructions, compliance text, and more). Minimums, lead times, and setup costs vary by bag style, material, and number of print colors. Share your size, mil, quantity, and print goals and we’ll quote options.
Where do you ship from?
We ship from multiple U.S. distribution points depending on the product and availability. This helps us support customers nationwide while keeping freight efficient.
Do you offer free shipping?
Free shipping may be available on qualifying orders depending on product, ship method, and destination. Some orders ship via parcel, while heavier orders may ship LTL freight. Special services (liftgate, residential delivery, appointment, etc.) may add cost. We’ll provide the best shipping option for your order.
Can I use my own UPS or freight account?
Yes. If you prefer, you can provide your own UPS or freight account number and we can often ship on your account (subject to product/warehouse constraints).
What are your lead times?
Lead times depend on whether the item is stock or custom. Stock items often ship quickly when available, while custom sizes/printing typically require additional production time. We’ll confirm timing with your quote or order confirmation.
Do you supply poly bags for medical or cleanroom use?
We can source specialty packaging for medical, lab, and controlled-environment applications (including cleanroom-compatible options). Requirements vary, so tell us your use-case and we’ll recommend suitable products.
Are your products compliant with California Prop 65?
Compliance depends on the specific product and manufacturer documentation. If Prop 65 is a requirement, share the product(s) you’re considering and we’ll help confirm what supporting information is available.
Do you offer TAA-compliant or government-approved packaging?
Some products may be available with procurement requirements such as TAA. Availability depends on the item and sourcing. Tell us what you need and we’ll point you to the right options.
What are meat box liners used for?
Meat box liners help protect corrugated boxes from moisture, leaks, and contamination during storage and transport. They’re commonly used in meat, poultry, seafood, and produce operations as a durable moisture barrier.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
Minimum order quantities vary by product type and whether the item is stock or custom. Some items can ship in smaller quantities, while custom sizes or printed bags typically require larger minimums. Request a quote and we’ll confirm minimums for your item.
Can I get samples before placing a large order?
Often, yes. Sample availability depends on the product and supplier. Share the bag style/size and your application and we’ll advise the best way to validate fit and performance before committing to a larger run.
Do you offer stocking programs or blanket orders?
Yes. For repeat-use items, we can support stocking programs and blanket orders to improve continuity and help reduce stockouts. Tell us your monthly usage and we’ll propose a practical approach.
What payment terms do you offer?
Payment options vary by customer profile, order size, and product type. Businesses may qualify for invoice terms subject to approval. If you need terms for a recurring program, ask and we’ll outline what’s available.
How do I measure a gusseted bag?
Gusseted bags are typically measured as width + gusset × length. For example, a 12 + 4 × 24 bag has a 12-inch front panel width, a 4-inch gusset (depth), and a 24-inch length. If you share your product dimensions, we can help select the right size.
What is layflat poly tubing?
Layflat tubing is a continuous roll of poly tubing that you cut to length and seal (heat seal or tie) to create custom-length bags. It’s ideal when you need flexible lengths for varying products.
What are auto bags on a roll used for?
Auto bags on a roll are designed for efficient packing operations, including manual bagging and certain automated bagging workflows. They’re commonly used for parts, fulfillment, and kitting where speed and consistency matter.
Do poly bags require a suffocation warning?
Warning requirements depend on the bag size, thickness, intended use, and applicable regulations/retailer requirements. If you’re selling to retail or shipping consumer products, tell us your bag size and channel and we’ll help identify appropriate warning options.
Are poly bags recyclable?
Many polyethylene bags are recyclable through appropriate film plastic recycling streams, where available. Recycling access varies by location and program. If recyclability labeling is important for your application, tell us your goals and we’ll recommend suitable options.
What is the difference between a poly bag and a polyethylene bag?
They’re often the same. “Poly bag” is a common shorthand for a bag made from polyethylene (LDPE, LLDPE, or HDPE). The best choice depends on clarity, toughness, stiffness, and cost.
